Livingston School District Solar Enterprise, Part 7: Mt Pleasant Elementary and Middle School

Tuesday, 28 June 2011 05:46

The Livingston School District in a partnership with EMSA Solar LLC installed solar units at Mt Pleasant Elementary and Middle Schools. The solar power generating from the units totals to about 243 kW of energy. Moreover, it is expected to save the schools about $33,938.00 in energy usage annually. The initial installation consisted of a 243 kW solar system. Once completed, the school’s system is expected to generate approximately 282,824 kW hours of electricity in its first year of operation, which will cover approximately 80% of the school’s electrical needs. The amount of clean energy which will be produced by the solar system in its first year is equivalent to taking 52 cars off the road for that year. When the project was awarded to EMSA Solar LLC the work at the school started immediately after signing the contract with Livingston School District. Soltech modules, Solectria PVI inverters and Sunlink (non-penetrating ballasted) racking were used at all the school locations. Power WOW sustainability management systems and monitoring systems from DECK Monitoring were further used for the solar system.
